Note: Based on guidance from the Texas State Board of Pharmacy and updated CE requirements from the 86th Texas Legislature, this activity may count toward 1 hour of the “Pain Management” requirement or 1 hour of the “Prescribing and Monitoring Controlled Substances” requirement (Board Rule 295.8).

Upon completion of this activity, pharmacists will be able to:
1. Describe the epidemiologic data on opioids-drug interactions.
2. Evaluate a patient’s medication’s profile and identify the existing drug interactions.
3. Design a strategy to minimize the health risk of opioid drug interactions.
4. Describe the regulatory status of naloxone in Texas.
Upon completion of this activity, pharmacy technicians will be able to:
1. Describe the epidemiologic data on opioid-drug interactions.
2. List at least three opioid drug interactions.
3. Recognize which controlled substances are in what scheduled (Schedule I – V).
4. Recall the regulatory status of naloxone in Texas.
