PERIPHERAL ARTERIAL DISEASE

Upon completion of this activity, pharmacists will be able to:
1. Describe the epidemiology, risk factors, and underlying pathophysiology of PAD
2. Recognize the clinical signs and symptoms of PAD and identify appropriate diagnostic strategies
3. Evaluate and apply evidence-based pharmacological and non-pharmacological management strategies
for PAD.
Upon completion of this activity, technicians will be able to:
1. Identify common medications used in the management of PAD
2. Recognize high-risk patients for PAD based on medication profiles and comorbid conditions, and
proactively assist the pharmacist by identifying potential medication-related issues.
3. Support patient care by reinforcing key non-pharmacologic strategies – such as smoking cessation and
exercise programs, and appropriately referring patient questions or concerns to the pharmacist
