DON’T BE SO VEIN, IT’S JUST BLOOD PRESSURE! 2025 ACC/AHA HYPERTENSION GUIDELINES UPDATE AND DRUGS IN THE PIPELINE

Upon completion of this activity, pharmacists will be able to:

1. Summarize the significant updates to the 2025 AHA/ACC Hypertension guideline recommendations.

2. Assess new and emerging antihypertensive therapies and their potential role in patient care.

3. Given a patient case with either newly diagnosed hypertension, follow up, or a hypertensive crisis,

describe a patient-centered plan that incorporates pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic 2025 AHA/ACC Hypertension guideline recommendations.

Upon completion of this activity, technicians will be able to:

1. Describe key recommendations on blood pressure medications based on the 2025 AHA/ACC

Hypertension Guidelines.

2. Explain best practices on at home blood pressure monitoring and medication adherence based on

guideline recommendations.

3. Identify new and emerging antihypertensive medications.
