Upon completion of this activity, pharmacists will be able to:
1. Recall updates to the 2025 American Diabetes Association Guidelines Standards of Care in Diabetes
2. Identify updates in place in therapy of diabetes medications with respect to comorbid conditions
3. Identify the role of GLP-1 receptor agonists, GLP-GIP receptor agonists and pioglitazone in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH)
4. Summarize considerations for special populations and circumstances that require the pharmacist’s expertise
5. Given a patient case, select an appropriate medication adjustment to optimize the patient’s pharmacotherapy
Upon completion of this activity, technicians will be able to:
1. Recall the brand and generic names of medications used to treat diabetes and associated conditions
2. Identify potential psychosocial concerns for patients with diabetes
3. Recognize appropriate patients to refer to a pharmacist
