WHEN DID THAT GO OTC? A LOOK AT RECENT PRESCRIPTION TO OVER-THE-COUNTER TRANSITIONS AND THEIR PLACE IN SELF-CARE THERAPY

Upon completion of this activity, pharmacists will be able to: 

1. List new pharmacologic options available without a prescription while describing the safe and effect use of these medications 

2. Identify inclusion and exclusion criteria for self-care treatment of allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, and osteoarthritis 

3. Use QuEST/SCHOLAR-MAC to collect and assess patient information to make a well-informed self-care recommendation 

Upon completion of this activity, pharmacy technicians will be able to: 

1. List new pharmacologic options available without a prescription for allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, and osteoarthritis 

2. Help pharmacists collect patient information to make a well-informed self-care recommendation 

3. Show patients the correct product recommended by the pharmacist, watching out for brand extension products containing unintended active ingredients
