BREATHE EASY: A REFRESHER FOR PHARMACISTS ON SMOKING CESSATION

Upon completion of this activity, pharmacists will be able to:
1. Explain the “5 A’s” of smoking cessation and provide an example of each
2. Describe first-line medications used in smoking cessation, including dose, route, frequency, duration, and
relevant adverse effects
3. Given a patient case, design an appropriate, patient-centered smoking cessation plan
Upon completion of this activity, pharmacy technicians will be able to:
1. Identify the “5 A’s” of smoking cessation
2. Recall first-line medications used in smoking cessation
3. Select an appropriate smoking cessation regimen given a patient case
