Empowering Pharmacists to Reduce Harm in Older Adults

Upon completion of this activity, pharmacists and technicians will be able to:
1. Apply the Beers Criteria in real-world scenarios to detect and address high-risk medications in older patients
2. Analyze potentially inappropriate medications (PIMs) and drug-disease interactions relevant to older adults using the Beers Criteria
3. Design actionable strategies for deprescribing, collaboration with prescribers, and educating patients based on practice setting
4. Describe the structure of the AGS Beers Criteria and summarize key updates made in the 2023 edition

The University of the Incarnate Word Feik School of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This program is designed for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to gain knowledge related to older patient care. There are no fees for this application-based CPE program. The pharmacist or pharmacy technician will only receive credit for programs after receiving a 70% on a post-test and an activity evaluation form is completed and submitted through FSOP’s Lecture Panda website (https://www.lecturepanda.com/r/geriatrics2025). Participants will have six weeks to complete the post-test and evaluation form. The deadline to submit the post-test and evaluation form to obtain CE credit is October 8, 2025.
