DIABETES UPDATES: THE 2026 STANDARDS OF CARE

Upon completion of this activity, pharmacists will be able to:

1. Identify updates to the ADA 2026 Standards of Care recommendations for glycemic management

2. Recognize updates to the ADA 2026 Standards of Care recommendations for cardiovascular risk

management

3. List appropriate strategies for the management of hyperglycemia in cancer patients

4. Given a patient case, select an appropriate medication adjustment to optimize the pharmacotherapy

regimen

Upon completion of this activity, technicians will be able to:

1. Recall the availability of manufacturer Patient Assistance Programs

2. Recognize appropriate patients to refer to a pharmacist

3. Identify medications which may contribute to weight gain

4. Recall that cancer patients may be at increased risk for hyperglycemia requiring treatment
